External Relations Manager
Karyn is currently undertaking her master’s thesis in biomedicine at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. Originally from the UK, she has a BSc. from the University of Reading in biological sciences focusing on translational medicine. During that time, and in response to the European migrant crisis, she joined a refugee and asylum seeker charity focusing on student activism through volunteering, campaigning and educating. As a volunteer and then manager she gained a perspective into the nonprofit field, witnessed the disparities in the health and education system and advocated for equal access to higher education and safe routes save lives.
Her wish to bridge her biomedical background and will to produce positive change led her to the global health field as she now joins SOGH as External Relations Manager. Karyn’s particular global health interests are in women’s health issues and asylum seeker health rights and resources. She is keen to use her experience in events planning and liaison to contribute to SOGH’s efforts and support the development of the organization and active achievement of their goals.
