Kyaw Zay Ya
Research and Grants Manager
Zay Ya is in his second year of the Master in Public health sciences (Health economics, Policy and Management track) at Karolinska institutet and he is also a medical doctor who worked with non-governmental organizations/international organizations in health and development sectors of Myanmar for six years. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine, a Bachelor of Surgery and a Diploma in Development studies. He believes that limited access to quality health care services and lack of health insurance are major obstacles for health and development activities, and also that accessibility to affordable, equitable and quality health care services are basic human rights. His ultimate goal is to promote universal health coverage in a global context, particularly for low and middle-income countries. He is joining SOGH as Research and Grant Manager, and he believes that this experience will also enhance his career prospects in Sweden, establishing connections with local/international donors and various agencies. It is the beginning of his intellectual journey in Sweden and he is ready to employ his expertise and existing experiences in SOGH to meet the need of the organization.
