Matthew recently graduated with a degree in Development Studies through Lund University, a social science-based program focused on the economic, social and political processes linked to international development and cooperation. His studies led him to spend two periods in Nepal, where an interest in healthcare-related topics began to develop. As a research analyst intern and independent researcher, he gained a better understanding of reproductive health, health service provision, care assessment, and barriers to quality care in a development context.
Originally from the United States, he is now based in Sweden working as a Digital and Social Media Strategist at global marketing organization Publicis Sapient. He assists clients in developing marketing strategies and initiatives to achieve their strategic communication goals across a wide range of industries, products, target groups and mediums.
He joins the team as Communications Manager because he aims to combine his marketing experience and growing interest in global health in order to make a positive impact. He would like to see improvements in health service provision in terms of quality of care and efficiency, as these factors can have a great impact on sufficiently addressing medical needs and ultimately influencing the possibilities for good health. He aims to strengthen the SOGH team’s efforts and support them in achieving their objectives through strategic communication.
