Alexandra comes from Greece where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Sciences from the University of Peloponnese, in Sparta, and her first Master’s Degree in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Subspecialities from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Currently, she is pursuing her second Master’s in Global Health at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, through which she aims to pursue a career in global health research, especially focused on eliminating healthcare inequalities.
She developed her passion for global public health and understood deeply the critical need for the development and the improvement of the global health system while working in the clinical and community health field, during the Covid19 pandemic. At the same time, she was working volunteering as a nurse in humanitarian organizations such as Doctors of the World since she was an undergraduate student. Her main areas of interest are the Global Sexual and Reproductive Health and the Maternal and Child Global Health, while at the same time she is attracted to Management, Health Policies, and Politics in Global Health which she finds fascinating fields to work, be involved and do research.
Alexandra is an extrovert person with a passion for communication and networking, so therefore she applied specifically for the position of External Relations Manager. Joining SOGH opens an opportunity for her to expand her horizons in Global Health and contribute to the development of the organization and its mission to improve the quality and accessibility of health care worldwide, especially in low-income settings.
